Rich tributes paid to martyrs in Paradip
(Surjit Dhal PARADIP, FEB. 17) : Even as tributes were paid across the country to the victims of the Pulwama terrorist attack Thursday, several organizations and civil society, including Paradip Press Media (PPM) grieved the loss of 49 CRPF personnel in a car bomb blast in Pulwama area of Jammu & Kashmir state on Thursday held a condolence meeting at the municipal conference hall here on Saturday.
They held two minutes’ silence praying for the martyred jawans.
Paying rich tributes to the martyrs Municipality chairman Basanta Biswal and social activist Sriballabha Kar condemned the heinous act of cowardice sponsored by Pakistan.
They extended their support to the Union government in any befitting reply to the perpetrators of the attack.
The meeting was presided over by PPM advisor and senior journalist Gagan Bihari Sahoo.
Officers, employees and workers of Paradip port observed two minutes’ silence in front of the administrative building to pay tribute to the jawans.
Officers, employees and workers of Paradip Port Trust offered condolence to the martyrs of CRPF in Kashmir by observing silence and prayers for two minutes in front of Administrative Building.
Biju Patnaik Memorial Trust (BPMT) staged a huge candle rally in the port township to pay tributes to the martyrs.
The rally was led by Trust general secretary and municipality chairman Basanta Biswal.
Similarly, Purba Bharat Oil Refinery Labour Union also organised a condolence meeting which was presided over by its president Santosh Kumar Pattnaik in the union premises near zero point.
Besides, various local social organisations like Paradip Nagarika Manch, Paradip Unit Trust, Aahwan Combines, educational institutions and merchant associations organised candle light marches and condolence meetings
People poured onto the streets of Paradip in large numbers, flaunting placards and shouting slogans against the terrorist attack and demanding stern steps against Pakistan.
