Retired Veterinary Doctor dies in honey bee attack

Angul: A retired veterinary doctor reportedly died while more than 25 injured due to honey bee attack in Angul district of Odisha recently. The incident took place in the Hariharpur village under Kampasala Panchayat in Chhendipada area of the district.

The deceased has been identified as Bipin Pradhan of Hariharpur village under Kaniha police station limits.

According to reports, the bees attacked after smoke from the cooking fire hit a honeycomb. The smoke rose about 200 meters above and hit the honeycomb and the bees swarmed into the houses and attacked people.

As a result of the honey bee attack, more than 25 people were injured, including a veterinarian who was critically injured. He was admitted to the district headquarters hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
