Retired Professor’s Body Found in Mahanadi

Cuttack: The body of a retired professor was discovered floating in the Mahanadi River near Gate No. 94 of Jobra Anicut in Cuttack district on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as 78-year-old Baishnab Charan Singh, a resident of Patia in Bhubaneswar.

The professor’s family had reported him missing on December 15, filing a complaint at the Nandankanan police station. His body was recovered today, bringing a tragic end to the search.

Authorities have not yet determined whether the death was due to suicide or foul play. The Malgodown Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of death. Further details will be revealed after the post-mortem examination.
