Reporters Today Impact: Fake Home Secretary Arrested

Ranapur (Reporters Today Bureau): In a successful operation of Odisha police , the cop arrested a man who cheated several persons of lakhs of rupees in Ranapur of Nayagarh district while posing him self as the Home Secretary. Acting on a tip-off, a team of police of Chandpur raided a house in Cuttack and nabbed the accused, Kanhu Pradhan (35).
A senior police official of the Chandpur police station said Kanhu from Tangi area of Khordha was under the surveillance of the cop for past couple of months. During the raid today, a car, fake identity cards of different departments, two cell phones, bank passbooks, 15 ATM cards, laptops and a diary were seized from his possession.
Kanhu used to cheat unemployed youths after identifying himself as a senior government official with a promise to provide them jobs. He also duped people with false assurance to get their work done at different government offices. Kanhu never stuck to identity of one government official, but he used to pose as a senior officer of different departments, the police official said. One diary mentioning details of officials of Ranapur block, Tahsil and different departments has been recovered from the possession of Kanhu.
The police official added preliminary investigation shows Kanhu is the prime accused in a double murder case at Raipada reportedly over cashew forest auction.
