Renowned Lyricist Brundaban Jena Dies at 85

Bhubaneswar: Eminent lyricist Brundaban Jena has passed away at the age of 85 after battling a prolonged illness. He was undergoing treatment at the ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Jena, known for his unforgettable songs such as “Mo Priya Tharu Kiye Adhika Sundar” and “Akhi Palake Mo Tu”, was a prolific figure in the Odia music and film industry. In addition to his contributions as a lyricist, he was also a playwright and director. Throughout his career, Jena penned lyrics for over 30 films and contributed to the screenplays of eight songs.
His remarkable body of work earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the Odia Sangeeta Akademi Award, Odia Sahitya Akademi Award, Utkal Sahitya Samman, Fakir GitiSahitya Puraskar, and Odia Gitikabi Samaja Samman, among others. His passing is a significant loss to the Odia cultural and literary community.
