Relief from heatwave as MeT predicts Kalbaisakhi

Bhubaneswar: Heatwave has been experienced in the state of Odisha, but there will be a break from the heat said the local MeT office. There is a possibility of Kalbaisakhi in Odisha rain from today, the weather office further added. The weather will change as a low-pressure is active over East Bihar and adjacent sub-Himalayan West Bengal. The weather department has predicted rain with lightning, hailstorm from April 26 to April 30. In addition, the temperature will also decrease by 2 to 5 degrees in the next two days.

The weather department has issued a yellow warning for Jharsuguda, Boudh, Balangir and Sambalpur due to intense heat wave in the next 24 hours. Yellow warning for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur has been issued. These 6 districts shall have hot and humid conditions.

Similarly, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for the three districts of Boudh, Sonepur and Balangir, with the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30 to 50 kmph in the remaining districts, excluding Balangir, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh.

The department has issued an orange warning for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Koraput and Ganjam tomorrow, with the possibility of thunderstorms and hailstorms and gusty winds of 50 to 60 kmph with Kalbaisakhi in Odisha. The department has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms and wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur Rayagada and Malkangiri districts.

The weather department has predicted that there will be a respite from the heat in the state while there is a possibility of Kalbaisakhi rain till April 30. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, the temperature has remained above 40 degrees at 17 places, with the highest temperature recorded at 44.8 degrees in Jharsuguda.
