Rath Yatra 2025: Full Schedule of Rituals and Timings

Bhubaneswar: The sacred city of Puri is reverberating with chants, drums, and divine energy as the annual Rath Yatra festival begins with grandeur and devotion. Devotees from across the globe have gathered to witness the majestic Pahandi Bije procession of Lord Balabhadra, a key prelude to the chariot journey of the holy Trinity.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has unveiled a detailed schedule of the day’s sacred rituals, ensuring the smooth conduct of this ancient and spiritually significant festival.
Ritual Schedule for Rath Yatra Day:
Pahandi Bije (Ceremonial Procession):
To conclude by 12:30 PM, with the ceremonial transfer of the deities to their respective chariots.
Seating of Deities on Chariots:
From 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, Sri Madanmohan, Sri Ram, and Sri Krushna will be ceremonially placed on their designated chariots.
Chitalagi Ritual:
To be performed between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM, marking an auspicious phase of the preparations.
Besha Sesa (Completion of Alankara):
Conducted from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, wherein the deities are adorned in their divine attire.
Chhera Pahanra (Sacred Sweeping by the Gajapati King):
Scheduled from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, this ancient tradition involves the King of Puri sweeping the chariot platforms in a gesture of humility and devotion.
Charamalaphita & Installation of Ghoda and Sarathi:
At 4:00 PM, the sacred umbrellas (Charamala), horses (Ghoda), and the divine charioteers (Sarathi) will be placed on the chariots.
Commencement of Chariot Pulling:
The grand chariot pulling, the most anticipated part of the Yatra, is set to begin at 4:00 PM, as thousands of devotees join in to pull the majestic chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra towards the Gundicha Temple.
