Rare Anaconda Spotted in Koraput
Koraput: A giant anaconda was found in Odisha’s Koraput forest on Saturday. The forest officials on being informed by the locals rescued the semiaquatic reptile primely abundant in the tropical South American regions and released it in the deep forest.
Sources said, the anaconda was spotted crawling on the Poadpadar-Semiliguda forest-road under the Borigumma block limits. It was rescued by the forest officials while it was slithering along a canal embankment to leap up into the water, being scampered by the crowd.
According to a forest official, the rescued anaconda belongs to a Country Boa species which is a mixed-up yellowish green snake, generally an extinct kind of reptile. It is a 7-feet long baby-anaconda aged about six-seven months. The mother anaconda is expected to be straying in the nearby area, he added.
