Ranbir Kapoor opens up about his love for daughter Raha

Ranbir Kapoor will soon be seen portraying Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, but it’s his character of a loving father that’s winning people over. Indira Krishnan, who has played Kaushalya (Ranbir’s on-screen mother), spoke about her experience with Ranbir in an interview for NDTV recently.

It was Indira’s observation that Ranbir’s considerate behavior on the set impressed her. “He’d pull out a chair for me, ask about my day, and have lovely, thoughtful chats,” she said. “I’ve never witnessed a star of his caliber treat people the way he does. He’s so down-to-earth.”

Indira was especially moved by Ranbir’s love for his daughter Raha. “He said to me, ‘Raha is my dal chawal,’” she explained, pointing out the simplicity and love in his words. Ranbir would ask Indira daily about books her son Anirudh used to read when he was a child so he could get similar ones for Raha. “Daily he would call me, ‘Ma’am, did you arrange the books for Raha?’” she nostalgically recalled.

Ranbir also formed a special connection with Indira’s son Anirudh, who spent hours speaking with him in his vanity van. “They would discuss everything from board exams to parenting tips,” Indira shared. “Ranbir would ask what was best for his daughter, always seeking advice.”

One such event that caught Indira’s attention was when Ranbir hobbled on the set one day. When she inquired about the reason, he smiled and replied, “There was a race, Indira ji… I ran for Raha. And I came first.” Though Ranbir had pulled his muscle, nothing prevented him from working. “That’s Ranbir – before anything else, he is a father,” Indira concluded, obviously impressed at his commitment.

Indira also had words of praise for Ranbir’s dedication to the role of Lord Ram, labeling him as a genuinely committed actor. With stories like these, it is apparent that Ranbir’s time on the sets of Ramayana has been marked with warmth and camaraderie, not only with co-stars but also with the crew.
