Rain in Odisha till July 17

Bhubaneswar: Low pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal to trigger rainfall in Odisha till July 17, informed the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD)
A low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha during next 24 hours and heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity with Lightning very likely over the districts of Odisha during 13th July 2025 to 17th July, said IMD.
The weather department further said that the trough from central parts of East Rajasthan to cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal between 0.9 & 3.1 km above mean sea level has merged with the monsoon trough.
Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of July 14):
- ORANGE WARNING: Heavy to Very Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
- YELLOW WARNING: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada, Sambalpur. Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh,Puri, Khurda, Ganjam and Gajapati.

- YELLOW WARNING: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Deogarh, Bolangir, Kandahamal, Kalahandi.
- Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam and Gajapati .
Day 3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of July 15 to 8.30 AM of July 16)
- YELLOW WARNING: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh,Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur.
- Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

- YELLOW WARNING: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh,Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
- Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
