Puri Minor Burn Case: Girl Critical, Shifted to AIIMS Delhi

New Delhi: The 15-year-old girl who was allegedly set on fire by unidentified miscreants in the Balanga area of Odisha’s Puri district continues to remain in critical condition, according to a medical bulletin issued by AIIMS New Delhi on Sunday.

The girl, who sustained 75% burn injuries, was airlifted from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to AIIMS New Delhi earlier in the day for advanced treatment. She was received by the hospital at 4:20 PM and is currently admitted to the Burn ICU in the Burns and Plastic Surgery Block, where a dedicated team of doctors is monitoring her condition. She is on oxygen support, the bulletin stated.

The Odisha government has announced that it will cover all medical expenses for the girl’s treatment.

Meanwhile, the police investigation into the horrific incident is underway. Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania visited the crime spot in Balanga today to review the status of the probe and urged officials to ensure swift identification and arrest of the culprits.

The shocking attack has triggered widespread outrage across the state, with calls for speedy justice and stronger safety measures for women and girls.
