Protest Erupts After Worker’s Death at Paradip Port
Paradip: Tension flared at Paradip Port late last night after a worker succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident at the wagon site.
The deceased, identified as Satya Subrat Dalei from Nabadia village under Kujang block, Jagatsinghpur district, was employed by a private contractor at the port. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he passed away.
Following his death, family members and fellow workers staged a protest at Gate No. 3 of the port, placing his body at the site. They demanded ₹50 lakh compensation and a job for one family member.
The agitation disrupted the movement of staff and vehicles through the gate. Police reached the scene to pacify protesters and restore normalcy. The agitators, however, vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met.
