Priyadarshi, The Media Friendly Cop

Bhubaneswar (Surjit Kumar Dhal): After a long, Odisha got a media friendly police officer as the law boss of twin city. Recently the State government has reshuffled IPS officers and appointed Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi as the Police Commissioner of Twin City Cuttack-Bhubaneswar. He is actually a jewel for the Police Department.

Earlier, Bijay Kumar Sharma and Rajendra Pratap Sharma were very friendly to the media. And now the newly appointed CP is following their footsteps. But now the current CP is really well behaved and well attached with media and with common men also. In the recent scenario the law and order situation of twin city was slipping day by day. The Nayapalli murder case and recent CRPF square murder along with other criminal activities thrilled the capital as well as the silver city.

At last the home department was compelled to reshuffle the officers and appointed Soumendra Priyadarshi as the new police commissioner of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar. Priyadarshi, a resident of Khordha district and a 1995 batch IPS, will replace Dr. Sudhansu Sarangi, who has been transferred and posted as CMD of Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation. Priyadarshi’s works were praiseworthy while he was the OSD of Nabakalebar in 2015, IG of Odisha Police and Addl Director General of Crime Branch.

The recent Pathak father-son and Pradeep Panigrahi case were under his surveillance. His work performance as the SP and DCP of Silver City Cuttack was really unforgettable. The 2005 Dipu Sahu encounter in Shankarpur area in Cuttack is really praiseworthy. As the OSD, he was successfully maintained the arrangements, law and order situation and all other things in the Nabakalebara.
