President Murmu to Attend Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu will visit Odisha on January 10, 2025, to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced.

The convention, set to take place from January 8 to 10, will mark the first time Bhubaneswar hosts the prestigious event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also expected to attend.

Around 5,000 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) from 140 countries will participate in the PBD convention. The event will showcase Odisha’s rich culture, traditions, and art.

The Department of Tourism has been tasked with organizing accommodation for the NRI guests. A coordination meeting was recently held, attended by officials from the Cultural and Tourism departments, as well as district collectors from Cuttack, Puri, and Khurda. Representatives from the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), and block development officers (BDOs) also participated. The meeting focused on planning cultural programs and enhancing the city’s aesthetics to attract visitors.

Hotels near Bhubaneswar and IB guest houses have been reserved for the attendees. To facilitate transportation, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) will provide five double-decker buses and 50 additional buses for the event.
