President Murmu Launches Railway Projects in Odisha
Baripada: President Droupadi Murmu, during her five-day visit to Odisha, laid the foundation stones for three major railway line projects in her home district of Mayurbhanj on the concluding day of her tour, December 7.
The projects, part of the South Eastern Railway, include the Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani, Buramara-Chakulia, and Badampahar-Kendujhargarh railway lines. These lines aim to enhance connectivity, boost economic growth, and improve living standards in the region.
The 86-km Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani rail line, designed to strengthen connectivity within Mayurbhanj, will cost an estimated ₹2,549 crore. The 82-km Badampahar-Kendujhargarh line, passing through Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, is projected to cost ₹2,106 crore. Additionally, the 60-km Buramara-Chakulia rail line, connecting Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district with Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, is estimated at ₹1,639 crore.
President Murmu also inaugurated several developmental projects through video conferencing, including the Tribal Research and Development Centre, Dandbose Airport, and Sub-Divisional Hospital, all in Rairangpur.
Her visit featured various key events, such as the Indian Navy Day celebrations on December 4 at Puri’s Blue Flag Beach and the 40th Convocation of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar on December 5.
President Murmu’s five-day tour concluded today, leaving a significant mark on Odisha’s development and connectivity initiatives.
