President arrives in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Odisha today on a two-day visit to attend different official programs in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Soon after landing at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in a special flight of the Indian Air Force, the president was received Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Sulochana Das.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh were also present at the spot to welcome the first citizen of the country.

As per her schedule, the President will directly go to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar to attend the 5th biennial convocation as the chief guest.

Tomorrow she will attend the 13th annual convocation of Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. A total of 84 undergraduate students will be awarded gold medals, 6 students will be awarded best graduates and 76 postgraduate students will be awarded gold medals. Likewise, the President’s Award will be given to 144 MPhil, 1 DLT and 1 DSc students.

Thereafter, the President will go to lay the foundation stone for the upgradation of Ravenshaw Girl’s High School.

In the afternoon, she will attend the 600th birth centenary celebrations of Adikabi  Sarala Das at Sarala Bhawan and present the “Kalinga Ratna Award-2024” before flying back to Delhi.
