Police gearing for smooth New Year Celebrations
Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: With the New Year few days away, the Commissionerate Police has tightened its belt to ensure safety of the citizens during the celebrations at Zero Night.
The police will be more vigilant against miscreants who may try to indulge in acts detrimental to peace during the intervening night of December 31-January 1.
Allegedly illegal activities rise in spas and massage parlours.
Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty told reporters, “We have information on this matter and we are also collecting more information from the DCP. Wherever such exploitation is taking place, we will keep strict check on them.”
He said enforcement squad and special squad constantly have their eyes on the places where activities recognized as illegal under the PITA act, are being held.
Information about the foreign women, who are being used in these illegal activities, is being collected from the Intelligence Bureau, he added.
Notably, the police this year busted several sex rackets and arrested several people from various areas under Sahid Nagar, Nayapalli and Laxmi Sagar police limits.
Meanwhile, hotels, restaurants and clubs in the twin city and major towns have decked up to lure customers for the ‘Zero Night’ celebrations.
These are also offering various discounts to their customers.
