PMAY-G Housing Survey Begins in Rural Odisha
Bhubaneswar: A comprehensive survey for housing under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY-G) is underway across rural Odisha, set to conclude in two months. Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik assured that no eligible applicant will be excluded.
The State government is prioritizing inclusivity, with Gram Sabhas playing a crucial role in raising awareness through village campaigns. The initiative aims to prevent exclusions during the data collection process, officials said.
“We are committed to representing the needs of every citizen, particularly impoverished and marginalized groups,” Minister Naik stated, highlighting the role of departmental trainers conducting awareness sessions to foster community participation.
The survey comes in response to allegations under the previous government that many eligible poor were excluded from housing lists due to political motivations. The BJP-led government is now focused on transparency and inclusivity in the process.
Ministers, including Naik, are visiting districts to evaluate progress. He also plans to discuss the survey with his Central counterpart during an upcoming visit to New Delhi.
