PM Modi to Lay Foundation for Rayagada Railway Division on Jan 6
Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the proposed Rayagada Railway Division on January 6, 2025. The event will take place virtually at 11 AM, during which the Prime Minister will also inaugurate key railway infrastructure projects across the country.
The Rayagada Railway Division project, estimated to cost ₹107 crore, aims to enhance railway connectivity and infrastructure in South Odisha. The division headquarters will be located in Rayagada, where a modern G+2 DRM office building will be constructed, covering a plinth area of 12,000 sqm.
Key components of the project include a divisional control office to manage railway operations, residential facilities for officers and staff, connecting roads, parking areas, and rainwater harvesting systems to promote sustainability.
The project is expected to boost economic growth, improve transportation links, and generate employment in the tribal regions of South Odisha. Officials highlighted that the new division will lead to more efficient railway operations and closer engagement with local passengers and industries.
The foundation stone laying ceremony will be held in Rayagada, with Prime Minister Modi participating virtually from Jammu. Alongside this event, Modi will also inaugurate the New Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station.
Union Minister for Railways, I&B, and Electronics & IT Ashwini Vaishnaw will attend the event in Jammu. Odisha Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu will be present at the Rayagada ceremony.
