PM Modi Pays Tribute To Kargil War Martyrs In Drass

Drass: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh on Friday and paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War on the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Prime Minister Modi placed a floral wreath at the Drass War Memorial in honour of the officers and soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army declared the successful end of “Operation Vijay,” marking victory after the long battle in the icy terrains of Kargil, Ladakh. This day is celebrated as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to remember India’s triumph over Pakistan in the conflict.

“Today, the noble land of Ladakh marks the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. This day reminds us that the sacrifices for our nation are eternal,” stated the Prime Minister.

Addressing the issue of Pakistan, the leader cautioned that India’s neighbour would not succeed in maintaining relevance through acts of terrorism.
