PM Modi: Opposition Spreading Misinformation Ahead of DG-IG Meet
Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday criticized opposition parties for spreading misinformation and misleading the public.
Addressing a public meeting in Bhubaneswar, PM Modi acknowledged that ideological differences between political parties are natural. However, he expressed concern over recent attempts to undermine democracy and the Constitution. “Those who believe power is their birthright, and have been out of power for years, are now so frustrated that they conspire against the country and its people. They are misleading citizens with their ‘jhoot aur afwah ki dukan’ (shops of lies and rumors),” he said.
PM Modi urged BJP workers and citizens to remain vigilant against such campaigns and expose the lies. He also accused these parties of repeatedly spreading new falsehoods when their previous ones fail, aiming to mislead the public and regain power.
Odisha’s Rising National Significance
Highlighting Odisha’s growing prominence, PM Modi emphasized the BJP government’s commitment to promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage. He mentioned the recent grand success of the Bali Yatra and praised Odisha for hosting the DG-IGP Conference for the first time in its history.
“This conference, held since the British era, is being hosted in Odisha for the first time. Senior police officials from across India will leave after seeking the blessings of Lord Jagannath,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi also announced that Navy Day celebrations would be held in Puri, further positioning Odisha at the center of national attention. Additionally, he revealed that the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in January 2025 would take place in Odisha, offering the state an opportunity to welcome global visitors.
“These events will create lasting memories for visitors and boost tourism. We want to give Odisha top priority, and these initiatives reflect that commitment. Let’s aim to make these events even more successful than the G20 summit,” he urged.
PM Modi concluded by emphasizing the government’s vision for Odisha as a key player on the national and global stage, with these high-profile events showcasing the state’s significance.
