PM Modi & CM Naveen Top in the Rank: TOI Survey
New Delhi/Bhubaneswar (Surjit Kumar Dhal): Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi enjoys over 65% support and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is the most popular of all the chief ministers in the country, according to a survey conducted by CVoter.
Research firm CVoter’s “State of the Nation 2020: May Survey, consisted of responses from over 3,000 people from each state and Union territory of the country. The survey pitted the Prime Minister against the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Modi emerged as a clear favourite. A majority, 66.2% of the people surveyed, voted in favour of the current Prime Minister, while Rahul was a popular choice among 23.21%. Across the country, 58.36% of the people surveyed were very satisfied with PM Modi’s performance, while 24.04% said that they were satisfied to some extent and the remaining 16.71% were not at all satisfied.
A breakdown of ratings across states shows that Odisha gave Modi top ratings for his performance with a score of 95.6, followed by Himachal Pradesh (93.95) and Chhattisgarh (92.73.). However, that’s not the case down south. Modi was the least popular choice for PM in two southern Indian states — Tamil Nadu (32.15%) and Kerala (32.89%).
The race to be the best chief minister, the survey reported, was a close contest between Odisha’s Naveen Patnaik, Chhattisgarh’s Bhupesh Bhagel and Kerala’s Pinarayi Vijayan. The least popular CMs were Haryana’s Manohar Lal Khattar, Uttarakhand’s TS Rawat and Punjab’s Amarinder Singh.
The survey reported a satisfaction rating of over 90% with the NDA government’s performance in three states — Himachal Pradesh (97.46%), Odisha (95.73%) and Chhattisgarh (91.42%). Overall, over 62% of people surveyed said they were satisfied with the way the Union government was performing.
