Plus Two Student Gives Birth in Nayagarh Hospital Toilet

Nayagarh: A Plus Two second-year student from Nayagarh Autonomous College gave birth to a baby in the toilet of the district headquarters hospital on Thursday, raising serious questions about the oversight of hostel authorities.

The student, a hostel resident from Kandhamal district, reportedly experienced severe abdominal pain early in the morning and informed her roommates. The hostel authorities rushed her to the district hospital, where doctors administered an injection after a health check-up.

However, soon after, she went to the restroom, where she delivered the baby and lost consciousness. She was immediately shifted to the hospital ward and is currently under medical supervision.

Additional District Medical Officer Dr. Ajay Bahinipati confirmed that both the student and her newborn are stable. Hostel authorities claimed regular health check-ups were conducted but admitted the student had not undergone one recently. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
