Patnaik Visits Districts to Assess Crop Damage
Bhubaneswar: Odisha opposition leader Naveen Patnaik is visiting four districts today – Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara – to evaluate the damage caused by unseasonal rains to crops.
Patnaik’s tour follows his visit to Ganjam district yesterday, where he met with farmers and criticized officials for failing to assess the damage. Expressing concern over the delay, he urged the state government to provide immediate compensation to affected farmers.
During his visit, Patnaik will inspect damaged paddy fields and interact with farmers in blocks such as Satyabadi (Puri), Baaharana (Jagatsinghpur), Pattamundai (Kendrapara), and Salipur (Cuttack). He aims to gather first-hand accounts of crop losses and discuss the challenges faced by the agricultural community.
Highlighting the importance of agriculture to Odisha’s economy, Patnaik reiterated his demand for swift government action to compensate farmers and mitigate the impact of the unseasonal rainfall.
