Pari Row: Cops Vs Cops
Bhubaneswar (Surjit Kumar Dhal): About five months after the Nayagarh minor murder, the main accused has been arrested, raising questions about the ability of the Nayagarh police. Only after two weeks of investigation, the SIT reached out to the accused alleging that the minor had been raped and murdered. SIT chief Arun Bothra claiming that there is sufficient evidence against him. The question is, if there is so much evidence against the accused and the crime, how could the Nayagarh police not get a little trace about all this?
An innocent child was first strangled to death, then raped inside the house. The accused dumped the body in a pond packed in a sack. They found the body of victim within 10 days. So how did the police remain silent on all these aspects even after receiving information from the inquest report that the deceased’s decomposed body was recovered on July 23 and that semen stains had been found in the cloth ? How did the police ignore the fact that there was no mischief behind the murder?
How did the police not get even a little information about all these during the investigation of the incident after the minor’s parents complained to the police? What did the Nayagarh SP Pratyus Diwakar do in such a sensitive incident? On November 27, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered an SIT probe into the incident. On the 28th, a five-member team led by IG Arun Bothra was formed. It was then that the inquiry began. Within 15 days of the investigation, the SIT was able to find the cause of the murder and reach out to the accused. The SIT submitted the report in a sealed envelope to the High Court over the killing of a little girl on the 14th.
In a recent development, a major reshuffle happened in Odisha police, where the Nayagarh SP has been removed from his post due to the controversial “Pari” case. What did Pratyush do in this sensational case? Has he executed the real duty of a cop as he took oath at the time of his inclusion in Police ?
