Paralakhemundi King Gopinath Gajapati is No More

Reporters Today, Paralakhemundi: Paralakhemundi king and former parliament member Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deo passed away at a private hospital in the capital today. He was 76.

He is survived by daughter Kalyani Devi, who joined politics with the ruling Biju Janata Dal in February last year.

The king was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and passed away at around 4 am this morning. He was under medication for over three years. Earlier, he was admitted to Apollo hospital in Chennai in 2016 .

Gopinath, who born in 1943 was elected as member of parliament from Berhampur constituency on Congress ticket for twice in 1989 and 1991. He joined the saffron party in 1998 before shifting to the ruling BJD in 2009.

As his death reports came, Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb visited the hospital to pay last respects to Gopinath. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also express condolences via twitter.
