Orissa High Court to Remain Closed May 19–June 16, Vacation Benches Announced

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court will remain closed for summer vacation from May 19 to June 16, as per an official notification issued today. However, special vacation benches will be constituted on select dates to hear urgent matters.

According to the notification, the vacation benches will function on eight designated days: May 20, May 23, May 27, May 30, June 3, June 4, June 10, and June 13.

On May 20 and May 23, a two-judge bench comprising Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo and Justice MS Sahoo, along with a single-judge bench led by Justice BP Satpathy, will hear urgent cases.

On May 27, the two-judge bench of Justice KR Mahapatra and Justice MS Sahoo will sit, in addition to single-judge benches of Justice V Narasingh, Justice BP Satpathy, and Justice SK Mishra.

For hearings scheduled on May 30, Justice KR Mahapatra and Justice MS Sahoo will preside over a two-judge bench, while single-judge benches of Justice BP Satpathy, Justice SK Mishra, and Justice AC Sahu will also be in session.

On June 3 and 4, a two-judge vacation bench consisting of Justice BP Satpathy and Justice MS Raman will hear urgent matters, along with their respective single-judge benches.

The final vacation sittings will be held on June 10 and 13, presided over by the two-judge bench of Justice Aditya Kumar Mahapatra and Justice MS Raman. On June 13, Justice Gourisankar Satpathy will also preside over a single-judge bench.

These vacation benches are designated to ensure timely adjudication of urgent cases during the court’s summer recess.
