OMC Records ₹23,600 Cr Turnover, Enters Top 5 Mining Firms

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) has recorded an impressive turnover of Rs 23,600 crore in the financial year 2024-25, securing its place among the top five mining companies in India. This was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the 70th Foundation Day celebration of the state-owned enterprise in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted OMC’s remarkable growth journey. “The OMC began with a turnover of just Rs 1 crore in the 1960s. Today, it has reached Rs 23,600 crore, becoming one of the most successful state PSUs in the country,” he said.
Majhi emphasized OMC’s vital contribution to Odisha’s economic development, stating that the corporation has been instrumental in harnessing the state’s rich mineral resources. Odisha is home to approximately 41% of India’s total mineral reserves, and OMC has been engaged in mining operations for over six decades.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to strengthen Odisha’s manufacturing sector to ensure sustainable and rapid industrial growth. “We cannot rely solely on agriculture for economic progress. A strong manufacturing base, backed by value addition to our mineral wealth, is essential,” he said.
Praising OMC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Majhi lauded the plantation of 90 lakh saplings under its environmental drive. He urged the corporation to continue its efforts to safeguard the environment in mining zones and contribute more towards afforestation.
Additionally, OMC has been actively funding initiatives in education, healthcare, and sports across the state through its CSR programmes. The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of setting up iron pellet plants in Odisha’s mining regions to boost industrial infrastructure.
With its consistent performance and commitment to sustainable development, OMC continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Odisha’s economic landscape.
