Odisha’s sports & tourism initiatives set global standardz: British Deputy High Commissioner

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s innovative approach to sports and tourism development has caught the attention of international leaders, with British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming praising the state’s initiatives as an inspiration to countries across the globe.
Fleming commended the state’s proactive tourism strategies, highlighting Odisha’s impressive participation in the World Travel Market during his meeting he had with Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.
He noted that the state’s efforts could serve as a model for others seeking to enhance their own tourism sectors.
The meeting also saw discussions around key initiatives to develop tourism infrastructure in Odisha, with Parida emphasizing the importance of skill development programs, particularly for women. In addition, both leaders focused on the shared goal of combating child labour and human trafficking, recognizing the need for continued collaboration in these critical areas.
As the British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India, Fleming has played a pivotal role in fostering collaborations between the UK and India in various sectors, including education and tourism.
