Odisha’s First Cadaver Transplant Operation Conducted at SCB

(Pramit Pramathes) Cuttack: An unique operation has took place in SCB Medical College and Hospital yesterday. Odisha’s first cadaver kidney transplant has been carried out in Cuttack medical.

The kidney of a woman who died in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar has been transplanted to a patient in SCBMCH, Cuttack. A seven hour long operation was carried on in SCB to save a man’s life by way of a kidney transplant.

By 11:00 pm all the arrangements were completed by the Bhuabaneswar based hospital and the kidneys of the woman who had died was ready to be transported to Cuttack. Report says, the woman, Priyanka Rani Patra who donated her kidney was severely injured in a road mishap..

The injuries were very deep and she could not be survived. Her relatives agreed to the transplant programme, after she was declared dead by the doctors in Bhubaneswar hospital.
