Odisha: yellow alert for heavy rain in seven district, informed IMD

Bhubaneswar: Yellow warnings for heavy rain have been issued in seven districts of Odisha by the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)

The districts include Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Ganjam. These districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall, and there is a high chance of thunderstorms with lightning occurring in one or two places in various other districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

While these districts are experiencing heavy rain, a heat wave condition is expected to prevail in a few places in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sonepur, and Bolangir.

However, relief is on the way for the state as the Southwest Monsoon is expected to hit Odisha by June 21, 2023.
