Odisha Vigilance Traps Bhadrak Revenue Officer for Bribe
Bhadrak: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended Bhagabata Khatua, the Revenue Inspector (RI) of Gadi Revenue Circle in Bhadrak district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.
According to reports, Khatua was caught in the act while taking the bribe from a complainant. He had allegedly demanded the money in exchange for submitting a favorable field enquiry report to facilitate the conversion of agricultural land to homestead land in a Mutation case.
The entire bribe amount of Rs 5000 was recovered from Khatua’s possession and seized. Following his arrest, simultaneous house searches were conducted at two of his residences as part of an ongoing investigation into his disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018, at the Balasore Vigilance Police Station. Further investigation is underway, and a detailed report is awaited.
