Odisha Vigilance Nabs Jajpur SI for Bribery

Jajpur: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday caught Sub-Inspector (SI) Abhay Kumar Nayak of Sukinda Police Station, Jajpur district, red-handed while accepting a ₹5,000 bribe.
According to reports, the SI had initially taken ₹1,000 from a complainant in connection with a family dispute case. He later demanded an additional ₹4,000, threatening to implicate the complainant in a criminal case if he failed to pay. Left with no choice, the complainant approached the Vigilance Authority.
Based on the tip-off, Vigilance officials laid a trap and caught the SI while accepting the bribe. The entire amount was recovered and seized.
A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 02/2025) has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway.
