Odisha Vigilance Arrests Jajpur ABDO for Possessing Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Asit Kumar Patra, the Additional Block Development Officer (ABDO) of Dharmasala Block in Jajpur district, on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The arrest follows extensive raids by vigilance officials at multiple locations linked to Patra. During the searches, authorities uncovered a vast cache of assets, including three multi-storeyed buildings, one flat in Cuttack, a shopping complex, five high-value plots, around 700 grams of gold ornaments, bank deposits worth ₹65 lakh, and ₹1.85 lakh in cash.

According to officials, Patra was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the ownership of these properties and financial holdings. His assets were found to far exceed his legitimate earnings.

Following the discovery, a case was registered against him at the Cuttack Vigilance Police Station. Patra was taken into custody and is scheduled to be produced before the court later today.
