Odisha Vigilance Arrests Ganjam AEE for Possession of Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested Susil Kumar Panda, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in Ganjam, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. He is scheduled to be produced before the Court of Special Judge (Vigilance) in Berhampur later in the day.

According to an official press release, the Vigilance team conducted multiple raids at Panda’s residences and properties. During the searches, officials uncovered a significant amount of unaccounted assets. These include a multi-storeyed building, two flats, six high-value plots, 126 grams of gold ornaments, and cash amounting to ₹2.05 lakh. Additionally, bank and insurance deposits worth approximately ₹1 crore were also seized.

Panda reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the ownership and sources of these assets, prompting further legal action. The Berhampur Vigilance Police Station has registered a case against him under case number 9/2025.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials stated that further inquiries will be made to trace additional assets and determine the full extent of Panda’s wealth accumulation.
