Odisha to Set Up Science City in Bhubaneswar, Science Parks Across All Districts

Bhubaneswar: In a major push toward scientific advancement, the Odisha government has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art Science City in Bhubaneswar. The initiative aims to foster innovation, education, and public engagement in science and technology as part of the state’s broader vision of “Viksit Odisha 2036.”

The announcement was made by Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Thursday. He said the inspiration for the project came after a recent visit to the Science City in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

“Guided by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision, we have decided to build a similar facility in Bhubaneswar. Scientific development is essential for Odisha’s growth, and the proposed Science City will play a pivotal role in achieving the goals set for 2036,” said Minister Patra.

He also noted that several Odia officials currently working in Ahmedabad have expressed interest in supporting the project and contributing through knowledge-sharing.

Expanding on the government’s commitment to scientific development, Patra announced that science parks, science centers, or planetariums would be developed in every district of Odisha.

“Our objective is to instill scientific curiosity among students and the wider public. Every district will soon have a dedicated facility to promote science education and innovation,” he added.

The Science City and district-level projects are part of a comprehensive effort to strengthen Odisha’s scientific infrastructure and promote a culture of research and inquiry.
