Odisha to Recruit 2,416 Home Guards, Create 5,000 New Posts

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced plans to recruit 2,416 home guards to fill vacant posts and create 5,000 new positions across the state, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Thursday.

In a bid to address grievances over low pay, the Chief Minister also announced a salary hike and additional financial benefits for home guards. “Our government has recognized the concerns regarding salaries and will implement increased pay and financial assistance soon,” Majhi assured.

The move follows the state government’s decision in November to lift the recruitment ban on home guards, enabling the filling of existing vacancies. Further appointments will be made as part of the initiative to create new posts, officials said.
