Odisha to Provide Internet Access to All Villages by March 2025
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government plans to ensure internet connectivity in all villages across the state by March 2025, according to Electronics and IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling. The announcement was made during the Assembly session on Monday.
Currently, Odisha has 12,602 operational 5G towers. To address connectivity issues, a district-level task force has been established to expedite tower installation and resolve internet-related challenges, Mahaling informed the House.
The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in rural areas, where lack of internet access has hindered essential activities like online education and communication. In some cases, students and residents have resorted to climbing trees or hills to access stable internet connections.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Assembly resumed on Monday after a three-day break, with Opposition MLAs raising concerns over the rising potato prices during the Zero Hour session.
