Odisha to Finalise Vision 2036 & 2047 After Public Consultation

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will finalise the ambitious ‘Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047’ document after a comprehensive consultation process involving common citizens, intellectuals, public representatives, and civil society members.

The decision was taken at the seventh meeting of the State Council of Ministers held at Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday, presided over by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with all council members, were present during the deliberations.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the state government announced that regional workshops will be organised at four different locations across the state over the next 15 days to gather feedback and suggestions from stakeholders at multiple levels.

“The ‘Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047’ aims to shape a roadmap for making Odisha a prosperous and developed state by 2036, aligning with the national goal of becoming a developed country by 2047,” said Chief Minister Majhi. He added that the vision is rooted in three core pillars—Inclusion, Prosperity and Wellness.

Highlighting the state’s economic goals, the Chief Minister stated that Odisha aims to accelerate its growth trajectory to achieve a Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) target of USD 1.5 trillion by 2047, contributing 5% to India’s GDP. He stressed the importance of a collaborative ecosystem involving public-private investments, technology-enabled implementation, and effective coordination.

A key highlight of the vision is the launch of the strategic initiative ‘36 for 36’, which will identify 36 flagship programmes intended to make impactful changes in priority sectors by the year 2036.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, while addressing the council, emphasised the need for boosting export-oriented manufacturing and underscored the importance of deregulation, decriminalisation, and digitisation to improve Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).

Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, along with members of the six Sectoral Groups of Secretaries (SGoS), presented key objectives, sectoral strategies, and the broader framework of the ‘36 for 36’ initiative as part of the state’s long-term development vision.

The ‘Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047’ is being developed with support from NITI Aayog and marks a significant step in Odisha’s commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and accelerated development.
