Odisha Sizzles as Balangir Records 36.7°C

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is experiencing an early surge in summer temperatures, with the mercury crossing the 36°C mark in several parts of the state. Balangir emerged as the hottest place on Tuesday, recording a maximum temperature of 36.7°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per the IMD’s evening bulletin, Titlagarh also experienced intense heat at 36°C, while Paralakhemundi recorded 35.8°C, Jharsuguda 35.6°C, and Sambalpur 35.1°C. In Bhubaneswar, the temperature soared to 34.9°C, while Cuttack registered 33°C.

Despite the rising temperatures, the IMD has predicted dense fog in several districts. A Yellow Warning has been issued for January 3, with fog expected in parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal. The dense fog is likely to persist from January 3 (8:30 AM) to January 4 (8:30 AM) in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Ganjam.

Weather officials have advised residents to take precautions as the state braces for both rising temperatures and reduced visibility due to fog.
