Odisha Signs MoU for Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY Rollout

New Delhi: In a significant step towards ensuring quality healthcare for its citizens, the Odisha Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

With this agreement, 1.3 crore families in Odisha will receive the Ayushman Bharat health card, enabling them to access cashless treatment at over 30,000 hospitals across India.

The MoU was signed and exchanged by Odisha Health Secretary Aswathy S and National Health Authority CEO LS Changsan at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The event was attended by Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, and State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling.

Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Jual Oram were also present during the occasion.

The partnership marks the integration of Odisha’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) with the AB-PMJAY. The GJAY, previously known as the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), provides annual cashless healthcare benefits of ₹5 lakh per family, with an additional ₹5 lakh for women beneficiaries. Similarly, the AB-PMJAY offers health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year.

Under the new arrangement, women beneficiaries in Odisha will continue to receive enhanced health coverage of ₹10 lakh annually, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare services across the state.
