Odisha Shivers in Cold Wave, Fog Alert Issued

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is in the grip of a severe cold wave as temperatures plunge across the state, with many areas recording sub-10°C conditions. Over 20 cities are now experiencing temperatures below 15°C, making it one of the coldest spells of the season.

The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no significant change in the weather over the next three days. It has also issued a dense fog warning for the next two days, particularly for districts such as Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Ganjam.

Daringbadi, often referred to as the ‘Kashmir of Odisha,’ is bearing the brunt of the chill with freezing mornings and thick fog blanketing the region. Similarly, the industrial hub of Angul has reported temperatures dipping below 10°C, with interior areas like Satkosia, Tikarapada, and Nagirahas experiencing even colder conditions ranging between 6°C and 7°C.

Authorities have urged residents to take precautions to stay warm, as the intense cold continues to impact daily life. Many people have resorted to lighting small fires to combat the biting cold, while some have expressed difficulty in stepping out early in the mornings.

As Odisha braces for more freezing days ahead, staying safe and warm has become the need of the hour.
