Odisha Shivers as Rourkela Becomes Coldest City
Bhubaneswar: With temperatures dropping steadily, the intensity of winter chill across Odisha continues to rise. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no significant change in the state’s night temperatures. Daytime temperatures, however, are expected to dip by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
According to the IMD, the weather will remain clear over the next five to seven days, with no likelihood of rainfall. In the last 24 hours, Rourkela emerged as the coldest city in Odisha, recording a minimum temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius. Phulbani and Daringbadi followed closely, recording 11 degrees Celsius and 11.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Mayurbhanj district, however, stood out with frigid conditions, as temperatures dipped below 5 degrees Celsius in some areas. Upper Barakamuda recorded a biting 3 degrees Celsius, while Chahala registered 4 degrees Celsius last night.
Amid the chilly weather, local life has adapted to the seasonal shift. Tea stalls have become bustling hubs of activity, with people savoring steaming cups of tea and engaging in lively conversations. Morning walks in the crisp air have also become a popular routine for many residents, embracing the winter charm.
The weather is expected to remain dry and chilly as Odisha continues to experience the peak of the winter season.
