Odisha Schools Begin Morning Classes Amid Heatwave

Bhubaneswar: Schools across Odisha commenced morning classes today as part of government measures to mitigate the impact of the prevailing heatwave.

As per the revised schedule, students from Classes I to XII in both government and private schools will now attend classes from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM to reduce exposure to extreme temperatures.

The School and Mass Education Department has instructed district collectors to monitor weather conditions and adjust schedules if necessary. Secretary Shalini Pandit has also directed school authorities to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water and repair tube wells where required.

To protect students from heat-related illnesses, outdoor activities have been restricted, and schools have been advised to stock ORS packets for emergency use. Parents are encouraged to send their children with water bottles, while awareness programs are being conducted to highlight the importance of hydration.

Additionally, school authorities have been instructed to educate students on heatwave safety measures during school hours.
