Odisha Police Athletes Win Big at World Police and Fire Games 2025

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police sportspersons have brought international glory to the state and the nation by delivering an outstanding performance at the World Police and Fire Games 2025, held in Birmingham, USA.
Three young constables—Ashok Dandasena, Sabita Toppo, and Sushmita Tiga—secured multiple medals across track events, showcasing exceptional talent, determination, and athletic excellence.
Constable Ashok Dandasena emerged as a standout performer, winning two gold medals in the men’s 5000 meters and 10000 meters, and a silver medal in the 400×400 relay. He had earlier clinched gold in the 800 meters and 1500 meters events.
Constable Sabita Toppo claimed gold in the 100m hurdles and bronze in the 400m hurdles in the women’s category, while Constable Sushmita Tiga earned a bronze in the 400×400m relay and had earlier secured gold in the 1500m and silver in the 800m races.
Their achievements have been lauded across the state. Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania congratulated the athletes for their exceptional dedication and performance, stating that their success has brought great pride to Odisha Police and inspired fellow officers.
The World Police and Fire Games, held biennially, attract thousands of participants from police, fire, and public safety agencies across the globe. The stellar performance by the Odisha Police team has once again underscored the state’s growing prominence in the world of competitive sports.
