Odisha on Alert Amid India-Pakistan Tensions: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar: In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday assured that the state government is fully prepared to protect key installations and sensitive locations.

Addressing the media, Majhi said that the Centre is actively monitoring the evolving situation, especially in coastal and strategic zones of Odisha such as Chandipur and Puri, which could be considered potential targets in the event of hostilities.

“The Government of India is prepared for any eventuality. In Odisha, we have already held detailed discussions on the security of important locations, and another round of high-level meetings is being conducted today to reinforce those measures,” he said.

The Chief Minister emphasized that heightened security protocols will be implemented, including strict checks and the sealing of sensitive zones. He also announced that efforts are underway to facilitate the safe return of Odia residents currently living outside the state.

A 24×7 help desk has been set up at the Office of the Resident Commissioner in New Delhi to support Odias in need of assistance. As a proactive step, students from Odisha who are currently studying in Jammu are being relocated to Delhi.

Majhi assured that both the state and central governments are in constant coordination and are closely reviewing developments to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
