Odisha Merges MAMATA with PMMVY, Hikes Benefits for Women and Anganwadi Workers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on Tuesday approved the convergence of the state’s flagship MAMATA scheme with the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). The unified scheme will now be known as MAMATA-PMMVY and will be implemented across the state from April 1, 2025.

Under the newly merged scheme, financial assistance for beneficiaries has been enhanced. Women will now receive Rs 12,000 for the birth of a girl child, up from the previous Rs 10,000 under the standalone MAMATA scheme. For the birth of a boy child, Rs 10,000 will be provided.

Special provisions have been made for women belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). They will be eligible to receive Rs 12,000 for a girl child and Rs 10,000 for a boy child for all live births.

Incentives for frontline workers have also been revised. Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) will now receive Rs 250 per beneficiary, up from Rs 200, while Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) will get Rs 150, up from Rs 100.

The eligibility criteria under the PMMVY will be applicable to the MAMATA-PMMVY scheme. The state government has earmarked Rs 2,670 crore for implementation of the scheme over the next five years, the Chief Minister informed.
