Odisha making great progress in chemical, petrochemical & plastic industries

Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has asserted that Odisha is making great progress in chemical, petrochemical and plastic industries. “Now is the right time for investment in Odisha. Everyone is showing interest in investing in the state,” she said addressing the investors and representatives of industrial organizations on the sidelines of the Symposium titled ‘Chemical, Petrochemical and Plastics.’ Parida thanked all the partners for continuing their sincere efforts to transform Odisha into an ‘excellent Odisha.’
Parida said that Odisha is making great progress in the chemical, petrochemical and plastic industries today and is attracting foreign investors. “Odisha today has not only brought industrial production within the country, but has also created a unique market for itself in the international arena,” she said.
Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said that Odisha is going to be a partner in the march of developed India due to the progress and prosperity in the industrial sector in the State.
“Odisha has now become a special hub in the field of chemical, petrochemical and plastic manufacturing. This has been possible through the development of infrastructure and provision of ancillary facilities with a well-thought-out and planned long-term goal in our industrial sector,” he said and added that many ancillary industrial units have been established depending on the refinery of Indian Oil Corporation at Paradip.
Similarly, the growth of small industries at Paradip Plastic Park is also possible. It has become a reality. We are focusing on a value-added product,” said Swain.
MD IPICOL Bhupendra Singh Punia gave detailed information on ensuring Odisha’s industrial future by setting strategic goals in the chemical and petrochemical sectors.
On this occasion, a seminar on ‘Global Competition in Chemicals and Odisha in It’ was organized by Manas Majumdar Partner and Leader PWC (India) while Ravi Goenka Chairman and Managing Director Lakshmi Organic Ltd, Aditya Berry Chambers Inc., N Suresh Krishnan Managing Director Paradeep Phosphates Ltd., Manish Kiri Chairman Kiri Industries Ltd., Sanghikant Nayak Managing Director Tata Steel SEZ, highlighted the relevant issues.
Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director Oil India Ltd had a special view on the future of the industry. Amlan Kanthi Das Senior Vice President (Management and Research & Development) of Luminous Power Technology Pvt. Ltd dealt on the latest technological advancements in the new era and advanced processes for manufacturing chemical batteries.
