Odisha Leaders Condole Prayagraj Stampede

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik have expressed deep condolences following the tragic stampede at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, which resulted in multiple casualties.

In a message on social media platform X, CM Majhi said, “The news of several devotees losing their lives in the stampede at the Sangam during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is deeply tragic. May Lord Jagannath bless the departed souls with peace and grant strength to the grieving families to endure this immense loss. I also wish a swift recovery to all those injured.”

Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also conveyed his sorrow, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the stampede that occurred ahead of the Mauni Amavasya holy dip at the ongoing #Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s #Prayagraj. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, and I wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured.”

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning during the ‘Amrit Snan’ ritual of Mauni Amavasya, when thousands of pilgrims gathered at the Sangam in Prayagraj to take part in the sacred bath.
