Odisha Introduces Pre-Result UG Admission System to Speed Up Admission Process

Bhubaneswar: In a significant overhaul of the undergraduate admission process, the Odisha Higher Education Department has introduced a new system that allows students to apply for UG courses even before the publication of their Plus Two results.

Under the revised system, students can now submit their applications by selecting the ‘appeared’ option on the Common Application Form (CAF), indicating that they are awaiting their CHSE (Council of Higher Secondary Education) results. This marks a departure from the earlier practice, where students could only apply after the results were officially declared.

The move is aimed at streamlining and expediting the admission cycle. To ensure a smooth transition, the department has also announced a 10-day window following the release of the CHSE results for students to update their marks. This step is expected to minimize delays and enable timely seat allotment.

The admission process under the new system has already begun. The CAF is now available on the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal from Wednesday. Students can apply online until May 20. The application correction window will be open on May 21 and 22, allowing applicants to make necessary edits.

In a further move to simplify the process for CHSE students, their marks will be auto-fetched from the council’s database, eliminating the need for manual data entry and reducing the chances of error.

This reform is expected to bring greater efficiency and convenience to both students and institutions, ensuring a faster and more transparent admission process.
